Frequently Asked Questions...

Why do I need to train my dog?

If you visited any Animal Shelter, you would find many dogs that were disposed of because they soil in the house, chew valued possessions, bite children, or exhibit other unwanted behaviors. Most of their owners had good intentions when they first adopted these dogs into their families, but didn't realize that dogs NEED training to become enjoyable canine companions. We humans are not born knowing how to communicate our expectations to another species. We need training too. Unfortunately, these owners did not seek the professional help with training that could have prevented, or solved, their dog's behavior problems. Proper training techniques not only help to prevent and solve behavior problems, but also enable you to better the communication, and strengthen the bond, between you and your dog -- which will make for a much more mutually enjoyable relationship!
At what age should I begin my dog's training?

Whether you mean to, or not, you begin training your dog just as soon as you take him into your family. He can either learn appropriate behaviors, or very undesirable ones. Most young puppies are very impressionable. We simply teach them how a companion dog should behave, avoiding behavior problems. However, you CAN teach an older dog new "tricks" as well. The time to start training is NOW!
